The play is set on a Spring evening in 1912 at the Brumley home of the Birlings, a prosperous family in the industrial North.

The family has enjoyed a dinner celebrating the engagement of their daughter, Sheila, to Gerald Croft, heir to a successful family business. But their evening is interrupted by a police inspector . . . . . . their lives will never be the same again!

'Getting On' by Alan Bennett - Spring 2007 

Directed by Oliver Clauson

Alan Bennett’s ‘Getting On’ was written in 1971, when Edward Heath was Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher Education Minister and mini skirts still at the height of fashion! It explores the life of George Oliver, a disenchanted socialist MP and his wife Polly, as he contends with his passing years. The play is set in the basement kitchen where all the comings and goings of the house are lively presented.
