Our Company

The Marlborough Players were founded by Barbara Clauson, Ian Philpott and Jack Hawkes in 2004 after the huge success of the 'Wheels of Time' play (marking the 800th anniversary of Marlborough's Charter) clearly indicated that there was a healthy appetite for amateur drama in the town once again.

Although we have a healthy membership, we are always looking for aspiring actors and directors to join our happy band, as well as those willing to help backstage. If you are interested and would like further details, please contact the Membership Secretary, Ian Philpott, on 01672 512302, or via the 'Join us' section of this website.

The Marlborough Players arrange regular activities for its membership, including an in-house review each year.

Our first General Meeting on January 6th 2006 established a formal committee and approved our Constitution. Since then, we have successfully staged J B Priestley's classic play 'An Inspector Calls', Alan Bennett's political comedy 'Getting On' and Mike Williams' comedy 'Waiting for Panto'. Our next production, in November 2008, is Christopher Hampton's comedy, 'The Philanthropist'.
