March production: ‘Two’

by Jim Cartwright

Marlborough Town Hall

Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th March 2014

Doors and bar open: 7.30pm

Performance: 8pm

Set in a pub 'somewhere in the north', 'Two', by award-winning author Jim Cartwright, centres on the landlord and landlady of a local community pub and gives intimate insights into their lives and those of the colourful pub regulars. Why is Alice to blame for the death of Elvis, can Mrs Iger keep a lid on her fantasies about ‘big’ men and what dark secrets are the landlord and landlady hiding? Running the gamut of emotions from hilariously funny to heart-achingly sad, 'Two' has been described as a “theatrical tour-de-force” that realistically portrays a sharp and touching slice of life in an English pub.

“Two is engaging and witty yet full of pathos.” The Stage, Jan 2012

“Two” will be The Marlborough Players first ever Spring production and is aimed at providing a slightly edgier and more contemporary element to the Players’ already popular performance calendar.  Directed by Anna Friend, the performance will take place at Marlborough Town Hall from 27th to 29th March 2014, and to get theatre goers in the ‘pub’ mood the Town Hall bar will be open prior to the performance.
