'Habeas Corpus' by Alan Bennett

Wednesday 19 to Saturday 22 June, Marlborough Town Hall

Following their successful November production of When We Are Married, The Marlborough Players promise a titillating evening of bawdy British humour in Alan Bennett’s riotously funny sex farce.

It’s a balmy summer afternoon in Brighton’s posh district of Hove, where the well-to-do residents are wondering when the sexual revolution will hit them. Local GP Arthur Wicksteed lusts after his voluptuous young patient, Felicity, while his wife sets her sights firstly on a ladies’ underwear expert , then on her husband’s bitter rival, Sir Percy Shorter. Meanwhile Arthur's sister Connie, desperate to attract someone more appealing than the lecherous young vicar, Canon Throbbing, decides to go for the 1970s equivalent of a boob job, with
spectacular results.

Will Felicity succumb to the doctor – or his hypochondriac son? Will Connie’s astounding new bust land her the man of her dreams? Who is Lady Rumpers and what is her dark secret? Will anyone end up with the right pair of trousers? Come along and find out from 19-22 June in Marlborough Town Hall. Doors open 7pm, with curtain up at 7.30pm.
